5 questions for Mr. Martin Kozák, owner of the company Kupmeto.cz

 

Ing. Martin Kozák

Owner and trade director of Kupmeto company (english version of the oficial website), that imports wide portfolio of foreign wines with accent to french wines. In his age he disposes of grade knowledge in his branch and enought sensitive nose for a proportion of quality and cost of wine. He interests in touch with smaller and medium - sized wineries.This company is ideal refuge for those lovers of wine that desire a lot of top "music" for a little money.

 

 

1) Do you remember your first encounter with the drink of Gods? When it was and what linked your fate with wine?

 

I know this exactly: on 3rd of October 1990. On my 13th birthday party, by coincidence in Paris, I have received my " first ration " of french wine under supervision of my parents. Of course, it was in time when I was intersted in totally another things - from toy cars (less and less) to pupil girls (more and more). My profession way began to connect to this one practically one decade later, towards the close of university, when the import of wines from Romania was interesting alternative of summer jobs for me.

 

 

2) What is it that fascinates and attracts you most in wine?

 

Neverending variability and divergence, range of tastes, varieties, producers, regions, bottles and importing companies. Nonuniformity and complicacy. Huge vitality of wine market and it's subjectivity - everybody has and mainly can have his own oppinion of specific wine. And besides it suits me when a product, that I sale, can be drunk also with your dinner - that isn't, as you recognize, possible with obligations.

 

 

3) What makes you worry most in today's world of wine?

 

Supermarkets and customers, who are pleased with offer of this system.

 

 

4) What unique unmistakables features of your wines are you proud of?

 

Expression of the winemaker and terroir. When I taste some wine, I immediately visualize the face of it's creator.

 

 

5) You may take with you two bottles of wine to a desert island. One of your production and one of your competitors'. Which do you choose?

 

I will be a pragmatist. I think I will recognize a drinkable water more crucial on desert island - so I would take any two wines in "magnum" bottle (contents 1,5 l), tightly before a departure I would drink it and fill it with drinkable water.
