New vintages of the wineries Bouza and Pizzorno
More such pleasant obligations! I have received, as a token of sweet gratitude of the winemaking companies Pizzorno and Bouza from Uruguay, new vintages of the closely familiar top wines. They have not travelled across such a distance by chance – they were in a company of the first order of wines for the Czech and Slovak market realized by the current exclusive importer of both family wineries – by the company Eurowines. Hence you can take charge of the honorary task to evaluate quality of the new wine together with me – today it is no figurative phrase! See for yourselves, use your own taste buds, find out how distant is the expression „wine of the New World“ to Uruguay, how Uruguay is close to Europe!
The wineries pleased me with these wines (as for the evaluation points, they are stated before the name) :
87 Sauvignon blanc 2007 „Don Próspero“, Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
84 Merlot 2007 rosé „Don Próspero“, Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
(both wines, very early bottled and minimally chemically treated for the purpose of preserving the maximum freshness and fruitiness, unfortunately suffered by the demanding 6 - week journey from the hot climate of the Southern hemisphere to the cold Brno, resulting in a slight, probably protein haze (less visible in rosé), which inevitably lowered their evaluation points. However, from the sensoric point of view, all was well, at least in my opinion.)
87 Pinot Noir 2007 „Don Próspero“, Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
87 Tannat – Merlot 2005 „Don Próspero“, Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
89 Tannat 2006 „Don Próspero“, Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
90 Pizzorno Reserva 2004 (Tannat / Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot), Canelón Chico, Bodega Pizzorno
89 Tempranillo – Tannat 2006, Las Violetas, Canelones, Bodega Bouza
92 Tannat 2005, Las Violetas, Canelones, Bodega Bouza
Tannat A8 – parcela única 2005, Bodega Bouza
Monte Vide Eu 2005 (Tannat / Merlot / Tempranillo), Bodega Bouza
(it would be a sin to open these unique top wines with a great potential for maturing before their time - that is the reason why they will remain in a quiet darkness of the cellar and they will not be evaluated, at least for the next few years. To get a better picture, see the points gained by the Tannat 2004 from the unique vineyard A6, recorded during my degustation directly in the said winemaking company – 97 points)
