Soul of vine bound by a spell...

A great wine is a piece of art in a sense... It cannot be born without enormous efforts, experiences, imagination and a pinch of luck. Its character is unrepeatable, its life cannot be grasped, time is its greatest ally... Only an old vine, tried by fate, fighting for its life with difficulty, can give birth to such a wine. With every decreasing strength, it increases desperately an effort to imprint the most genuine features of its character into its offsprings. Even wood twisted in a bizarre manner, the of sap which ceased to flow, can acquire a new purpose of its existence, provided it gets into skilfull hands of an artist. The vine itself will become a piece of art...

Georgij Gerov, a bulgarian scupltor, has been very attracted to wine in his country since his childhood. Where the eye of the winemaker sees only useless waste suitable only to be burnt, Georgij senses a beauty bound by a bad spell, but the spell is broken in his workshop and the beauty returns to life and starts to tell extraordinary stories. Is it just a weather - beaten trunk of Mavrud, or a handsome centaur, deprived of motion by a spell, eternalized in the flow of time? A silenced solo of a violinist, or a cracked stretched stick of Melnik? You can see for yourselves, for that mater... And when you will be walking again one day between the rows of vineyards, keep your eyes open!
